Need Help Selecting Shredder For Your Application? Heavy-duty shredders are commonly used in farming, mining and recycling industries. Today our focus is in general waste recycling. We may encounter a decision—choose an industrial shredder among single shaft, two shaft, and three shaft and up to four shafts. Each has its benefits and drawbacks. Here is a comprehensive guide for reference.
Single Shaft Shredder
Namely, this kind of shredder is the most common and easiest to understand. It consists of one rotor and one push ram. The simple structure makes it ideal for process rigid materials, such as plastic purges and lumps. Comparing to two shaft shredder and four-shaft one, a single shaft does not take a lead in output. However, from GEP Ecotechexperience, a single shaft produces uniform regrind due to the sake of screens. Here is a shredder demo video for reference.
Two Shaft Shredder
The shafts in a shredder essentially determine the materials you can size reduce using that shredder. In most scenarios, one or two shaft shredder will be sufficient. Two-shaft shredders have multiple rotating disks. This shredder used for crushing down metal, tires, plastics, or a mix of waste. An important factor to consider when choosing a shredder is the desired particle size. Two-shaft shredders are not ideal for scenarios where you need a very small, almost fine particle, because they do not equip a screen. On the other hand, if you intend to just volume reduces to 40mm strips, a two-shaft is a good choice.
Four Shaft Shredder
If completely destroying an object, a quad shaft shredder is best for you. As there are 4 rotating disks in a four-shaft shredder, materials can be broken down into pieces even further. Quad shaft shredders are common for facilities that need to shred sensitive information such as electronics and hard drives. Or you need to granulate materials to highly fine particles or destroy electronics, you probably don’t need a four-shaft shredder.
